Goristsikhe Fortress

Goristsikhe Fortress
Goristsikhe Fortress is one of Georgia's most important historical and cultural landmarks. It is located on a rocky hill in the center of the city of Gori. Its history dates back to the Early Middle Ages, although the fortress acquired its present appearance mainly during the 17th and 18th centuries. Over the centuries, it played a significant defensive role, protecting the strategic routes of the Shida Kartli region. Despite numerous wars and damage, the fortress walls have preserved their historic character to this day. From Gori Fortress, visitors can enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of the city and the surrounding valley, making it one of the most popular tourist attractions in Georgia.
