Goristsikhe Fortress

Goristsikhe Fortress is one of Georgia's most important historical and cultural landmarks. It is located on a rocky hill in the center of the city of Gori. Its history dates back to the Early Middle Ages, although the fortress acquired its present appearance mainly during the 17th and 18th centuries. Over the centuries, it played a significant defensive role, protecting the strategic routes of the Shida Kartli region.
